Jack Hunt School became a Department for Education and Skills designated Training School working in partnership with Deacon's School, Peterborough, in September 2000 for an initial three year period. Following successful re-application, this has now been extended until August 2007.

The school has a long history of working with trainee teachers from its principal Higher Education partner, the University of Cambridge Faculty of Education, both PGCE and GTP programmes. Other Higher Education partners include De Montfort University, Bedford and The Open University.

The school participates in the TDA Open Schools Programme which is designed to give those who are thinking of becoming a teacher the opportunity to gain some school experience.  To gain information about this please visit the TDA (Training Development Agency) website at www.tda.gov.uk
