500 Day Countdown To The Olympics with Year 7

On Tuesday 15th March Jack Hunt School celebrated the 500 day mark until the 2012 Olympics by going to Peterborough Athletics Track. Jack Hunt is getting very involved in this athletic event and all the year seven students had a very good time playing various sports. They all had to show their Olympic values of, respect, excellence, friendship, courage, determination, inspiration and equality.

When Jack Hunt got to the venue, they got split into the five continents of the world and participated in lots of different sports. Some of the sports they did were: handball, hockey, cycling, boxing, hurdles and relay racing. They also did a Paralympics game called boccia, which is a like bowls. The mayor of Peterborough spoke at the award ceremony and gold ambassadors presented certificates to year seven students. Here is what some of the participants thought of the event:

Mwansa Tengenesha:

‘I liked relay the best and didn’t like handball.’ He thought that the coaches explained everything ok and found that some of the things he did were interesting.

Lobna Azoui:

‘I liked boxing the most and didn’t like boccia.’ She didn’t find much interesting and thought that all the coaches explained everything clearly.

Sam Bates:

Sam liked relay and didn’t like handball. He thought that all the coaches explained their tasks well. ‘I though that handball was interesting.’
