JHS Annual Senior Citizen’s Christmas Party
The Senior Citizen’s Christmas Party was held at Jack Hunt School on Tuesday 13 December 2011. The annual event was a huge success and over 90 guests from the local community attended with some guests being collected by mini-bus from their homes.
A buffet was provided including sherry and chocolate log served by the students. There was a visit from Santa and his elves who had a gift for everyone. Entertainment comprised of Festive Songs from the School Choir, winners of the school talent contest and a medley of songs from this year’s musical Oklahoma. Afterwards the guests were also able to play a few rounds of Bingo with prizes donated by the Jack Hunt School Committee Fund, and win prizes in a raffle.
One lady from a local sheltered housing complex commented on how much she enjoys the event and that she looks forward to coming every year: Other comments included, “You should be very proud of your students at the school. They are a real credit to the school and I look forward to coming again next year.”
This year again the students took on the event organiser roles, the serving, hospitality and the presenting duties, planning the day, preparing the refreshments and running the bingo.
Each year the students and staff taking part in the event say how much they have enjoyed the day and the students in particular always comment on how they enjoy talking to and spending time with the Senior Citizens.
