First Aid

Medical Room

The Medical Room is not a sick bay and students who are genuinely unwell may be sent home. If a student needs to go to the Medical Room they must ask a member of staff's permission so that the teacher knows where the student is.

Students will only be allowed out of class when absolutely necessary. A reliable person will normally accompany them to the Medical Room.

If a student needs to be sent home from the Medical Room their parents will be contacted to collect them.

Only if students have a completed 'Administration of Medicines' form will they be allowed to be given paracetamol. This form also gives details of regular medication taken and only qualified medical staff will administer medication. Students who are on medication (except inhalers) must keep the medication in the medical room. Medicines will be kept locked in the Medical Room cupboard.

Inhalers should be kept with students at all times and a spare one kept in Medical Room for emergencies.

In a case of Serious Injury or Accident

Parent will be contacted and if necessary the student will be accompanied to hospital by an adult member of staff in the ambulance and remain with the student until parents arrive.
