School Priorities
School Planning for 2010 to 2013
Each year the school reviews and evaluates its progress against a wide range of indicators before setting priorities for future improvement. Priorities for improvements are then into put into one of two plans. The first, the School Improvement Plan, covers the key improvements we want to make in the next year. These are largely priorities linked to improving learning and teaching. The second, the Governors Strategic Plan, takes a three year view and includes a wider range of improvements to be achieved.
The School Improvement Plan 2010/11
In this plan there are three main areas for improvement. In the first two parts we are focusing on intervention strategies which will support progress and attainment particularly in Maths and English and in reducing the variation in the performance between subjects. This intervention is aimed at making sure each individual student makes as much progress as possible compared to the results they achieved when they were at primary school. This is aimed at improved school results in the Key Stage 3 teacher assessments at the end of Year 9 and also in the GCSE results. In the third part of the plan we are continuing to develop our strategies for better engaging some sections of the community we serve.
The Governors’ Strategic Plan 2010/13
The main areas for developement in this plan are:-
- To further develop the 14 – 19 (Keys Stage 4 and Sixth Form) Curriculum in line with national requirements.
- To review the Key Stage 3 Curriculum to provide more flexibility in ways of learning.
- To achieve online reporting to parents of information about academic progress and attainment, attendance, punctuality, behaviour, rewards and Special Educational Needs.
- To further develop the Extended Schools provision at the school.
- To further develop the school specialisms of Languages and Sport.
- To further develop the role of the school as a Training School.
- To continue to plan for the growth in the numbers of students at the school as a result of the requirement to move from a 9 form to 10 form entry and to allow for the raising of the participation age at 16 + in 2013.
- To further develop the school premises to ensure it is fit for purpose.
- To collaborate with the LA and other schools in the Building Schools for the Future project with a focus on enhancing ICT to support learning.

- To meet the requirements of the Governments National Framework for Sustainable Schools.
