Sports College

cricketOlympic Gold Medalist Darren Campbell opened the Jack Hunt Sports College in September 2007. Attending a Sports College will enhance students’ lives in many ways throughout their school career.

Through the PE curriculum students will focus on the development and application of physical skills, enhance their ability to evaluate performance and gain a greater knowledge about personal health and fitness. In addition to this there is a very strong focus on student leadership. A leadership pathway exists for students to follow that includes the Jack Hunt Young Leaders Award in Key Stage 3 and Level 1 and Level 2 Sports Leader qualifications in Key Stage 4 and Key Stage 5. For information on the leadership opportunities with PE please see Leadership 4 Life poster below.

Rowing photoAll students will experience inter-house sporting competitions where points gained contribute to overall house totals. Examples of activities include Kingball, One Game One Community, Sports Afternoons and Rounders. All sporting competitions culminate in a whole school sports day at the end of the summer term.

Extra-curricular clubs are an extremely important part of school life at Jack Hunt School. There is a vast range of activities that are on offer for students either before school, at lunchtimes or afterschool. These are all free. Each term a poster is published advertising the clubs open to students. This is also sent out through parent mail. Examples of activities include football, swimming, dodgeball, use of our fitness suite, indoor rowing and netball. For current activities, please see PE Enrichment poster below.

Finally, students can, if they wish, get involved in school teams. We run many fixtures against other local schools in many sports. The easiest way to get involved is to attend the club for the relevant activity.
