Olympic Star Opens Jack Hunt Sports College

Olympic gold medallist Darren Campbell officially opened Jack Hunt Sports College and the new building on 25 September. After three years of planning and building Jack Hunt school has undergone a facelift and provides facilities that are second to none.

The Olympic star spent the afternoon taking part in sporting activities with staff and students. Mr Campbell said: ‘This is an inspirational new building with inspirational people, so go forward and inspire and follow your dreams.’

The new building contains an assembly hall, sports hall, dedicated Drama and Music teaching spaces as well as state of the art ICT suites and a dance studio. Additional building work has provided a brand new library and reading court, learning support area and science laboratories.

Mr Duncan, Headteacher, said: ‘With enhanced facilities, a team of good staff and eager pupils we now have all the ingredients for a specialist sports college.’

Jack Hunt now looks forward to expanding our community programme so that local residents also benefit from the new facilities and developing the potential of both sports and language specialisms to help all our students reach their potential.
