PSYCHOLOGY

The intent of our A Level Psychology curriculum is to inspire curiosity about human behaviour, promote critical thinking, and develop scientific understanding of the mind and its processes.

We aim to nurture students who can question, analyse, and apply psychological concepts to real-world contexts with insight and empathy.

Our curriculum provides students with a strong foundation in the key approaches, debates, and methodologies that underpin modern psychological science. Through the systematic study of behaviour, students explore biological, cognitive, developmental, and social explanations, as well as issues of psychopathology. They learn to evaluate evidence, consider ethical implications, and understand how psychological research informs practice and policy.

We are committed to developing students’ skills in research design, data handling, and analysis, enabling them to become confident and competent users of psychological evidence. By engaging with classic and contemporary studies, students gain appreciation for the evolving nature of the discipline and the diverse perspectives that contribute to it.

Through our curriculum we:

  • Cultivate intellectual curiosity and an appreciation for the scientific study of behaviour and mental processes.

  • Foster critical, independent, and reflective thinkers who can evaluate theories and evidence.

  • Equip students with transferable skills in analysis, communication, and research that support progression to higher education and a wide range of careers.

  • Encourage empathy, cultural awareness, and ethical understanding in the consideration of human diversity and behaviour.
