I would like to be a Parent Governor at Jack Hunt Academy as I have a strong personal and professional connection to the school. I was a student at the academy myself, my eldest child previously attended, and I currently have a child in Year 7. As a local school that I hold in high regard, I am keen to contribute positively to its continued development and success.

I have over 20 years' experience in the public education sector, and through my current role as a fully qualified Careers Adviser and CEIAG (Careers Education, Information, Advice and Guidance) Lead, I bring relevant professional expertise in supporting young people to raise their aspirations and make informed decisions about their futures. I am particularly passionate about ensuring that all students have access to high-quality careers education, meaningful employer encounters, and opportunities that prepare them effectively for the world of work.

I would welcome the opportunity to contribute to key discussions around the academy's strategic direction, particularly in areas such as student progression, personal development, and raising aspirations. I am committed, organised, and approachable, and I would work collaboratively with staff, parents, and governors to support the best outcomes for all students.

Being part of the Academy Committee would allow me to stay informed and actively involved in the school's journey moving forward, and I would take this responsibility seriously, ensuring that the student voice and community perspective are well represented.

I believe I would be an effective School Governor because I bring a strong commitment to education, continuous improvement, and the development of people. Throughout my career in the rail industry, I have held leadership roles responsible for training, competence management, quality assurance, and organisational development. These roles have required me to analyse performance, challenge constructively, make evidence-based decisions, and work collaboratively with a wide range of stakeholders to improve outcomes. 

As Training Development & Innovation Manager at GB Railfreight, I am responsible for ensuring that learning programmes, procedures, and development initiatives meet high standards and deliver measurable improvements. This has given me extensive experience in reviewing performance data, identifying areas for improvement, and supporting leaders through both challenge and constructive feedback. These skills align closely with the governor's role of holding senior leaders to account, asking challenging questions, and supporting academy improvement.

I have a genuine interest in education and believe that every child should have access to a high-quality learning experience that enables them to reach their full potential, regardless of background or circumstance. I am passionate about promoting equality, inclusion, and opportunity, and I support the importance of safeguarding and providing a safe environment in which young people can thrive.

My professional background has helped me develop strong analytical, problem-solving, listening, and communication skills. I regularly work with diverse teams, engage with stakeholders at all levels, and contribute to strategic discussions that influence organisational performance. I understand the importance of acting with integrity, objectivity, and confidentiality, particularly when making decisions that affect others.

I am also committed to personal development and recognise the importance of training and continuous learning. I would welcome the opportunity to undertake governor training and to develop a thorough understanding of the academy, its community, strengths, and future challenges. I am prepared to dedicate the time required to attend meetings, review documentation, visit the academy where appropriate, and contribute positively to the work of the Academy Committee.

Above all, I would approach the role with a strong sense of public service and a desire to support the academy in achieving the best possible outcomes for its pupils, staff, and wider community. I believe my professional experience, commitment to learning, and ability to provide both support and challenge would enable me to make a valuable contribution as a School Governor

While studying in Poland, I was a member of the student council. This experience showed me how important it is to participate in school and community life. I have a son at the school and two more children will be joining this year and in the years to come. I want to be helpful and useful to young people, and I also have a lot of free time to help.
