Students excel at the Shakespeare for Schools Festival 2018
Jack Hunt School students took part in the annual Shakespeare for Schools Festival
On Wednesday 21 November 2018, Jack Hunt School students took part in the annual Shakespeare for Schools Festival; when students from all year groups took to the professional stage at the Key Theatre to share the results of their hard work and dedication with a stunning performance of ‘Macbeth’.
The evening was one full of nerves and excitement. Several months of preparation led to this moment, where their performance was showcased to the public for the first time alongside performances from two other local schools. The students gave a perfect performance and received a standing ovation, which certainly made the hard work worthwhile.
When asked what they have gained from the experience, one student replied, “With the help of the professional actors who supported our rehearsals, I gained confidence and created new bonds and friendships.”
Students also said that taking part helped improve their “time management and communication skills.”
The Jack Hunt School Drama department would like to offer their thanks to all the students, staff and parents who supported the event whilst Mrs Simpson-Holley, Headteacher, who watched the performance said, “Our students’ performance was completely engaging, demonstrated a real understanding of this tragedy and created tension that had the audience enthralled. I am so proud of them and the team of staff who made this possible!”
